STANDARD SIX - EXTERNAL DEVELOPMENT LEADERSHIP
A school executive will design structures and processes that result in community engagement, support, and ownership. Acknowledging that schools no longer reflect but in fact build community, the leader proactively creates with staff opportunities for parents, community and business representatives to participate as “stockholders”in the school such that continued investments of resources and good will are not left to chance.
6A. Parent/Community Involvement & Outreach
The school executive designs structures and processes which result in parent and community engagement, support and ownership for the school.
All For CONN Fundraiser Video
In the month of October, Conn Elementary conducts an annual fundraiser where families and businesses can contribute directly to the school to support various projects and initiatives for the remainder of the school year. I created a video that could be easily distributed via social media, email, and on our website to explain the goals, logistics, and impact of the fundraiser on our school community. |

6B. Federal, State & District Mandates
The school executive designs executive protocols and processes in order to comply with federal, state and district mandates.
NC Teacher Working Condition Survey (State)
In the Spring, I was tasked with having staff complete the NC TWC survey. It was important for me to have staff see the importance of having increased completion so we could use the data, as a school, to inform practices for the upcoming school year. I presented to the staff at the beginning of a workday during the survey window and ensured that we all shared common vocabulary and understanding of how the data would be used in the future. |

WCPSS Strategic Plan Visioning (District)
Throughout the spring, the district went through a protocol that allowed various stakeholders to participate in the rewrite of the strategic plan. The previous plan, Vision 2020, was to expire in the fall and the district staff sought input from teachers through professional development provided by the admin teams at each school. We provided this to our staff during a workday and staff were able to provide their insight to be considered in the upcoming vision for WCPSS. |
