Taylar earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Grades Education from East Carolina University in May 2012. After graduation, she began teaching sixth grade science at Ligon Middle School in Raleigh, NC. Taylar served many roles at Ligon, including Grade Level Team Lead, Science Department Chair, and Cooperating Teacher. She was also an active member of the School Improvement Team, Equity Team, and Magnet Recruitment Team. In 2015, Taylar was selected as a Kenan Fellow and worked on a project creating Citizen Science projects within the Genomics lab at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Taylar has written curriculum products within Wake County's Curriculum guide, C-MAPP, for a variety of middle grades science objectives. In 2017, Taylar was recognized as Ligon's Teacher of the Year and went on to be a Wake County Public School System Teacher of the Year Semi-Finalist. Taylar has also served as the Magnet Coordinator and University Liaison at Centennial Campus Middle School in Raleigh, NC. Taylar is completed her year long Principal Residency at Ligon GT Magnet Middle School in Raleigh, NC and is currently serving as Assistant Principal at Carroll Leadership in Technology Magnet Middle School.

TAYLAR IS A FELLOW IN THE WAKE PRINCIPAL LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
The Wake Principal Leadership Program (WPLP) is a principal preparation program designed to train future leaders to serve in the Wake County Public School System. WPLP was modeled after the award winning NC State program, the Northeast Leadership Academy (NELA). NELA earned the honor of being named an Exemplary Educational Leadership Program by the University Council for Educational Administration. A grant from the state of NC through the North Carolina Alliance for School Leadership Development (NCASLD) funds WPLP, including full scholarships for WPLP's Fellows.
